Today our dream has become a reality. Ave Maria has completed three 7,500 square foot, one-story brick homes on its property - St. Francis House, St. Anne House, St. Joseph House, and a fourth home, St. Mary House, will soon be under construction. Each Green House® offers private rooms and bathrooms for ten nursing home residents, a common hearth area for meals and socializing, and a secured patio area. Elders live together in intentional communities; manage their own schedules for eating, sleeping, and activities; and participate in group activities that are determined by the elders. Family and friends are encouraged and welcome to join the community at meal times and throughout the day.

Ave Maria’s Green Houses® meet or exceed all federal and state regulations. Each home is staffed by a team of workers known as Shahbazim who will provide elders with personal care, activities, meal preparation, housekeeping, and laundry services. Shahbazim have had core training as Certified Nursing Assistants and have taken 120 additional hours of training in the Green House philosophy, in self management and teamwork, culinary skills, and household management. The Green Houses® also have a clinical support team of nurses, social workers, therapists, physicians, activities and dietary professionals and pharmacists. Nurses will serve the Green Houses® on a 24-hour basis, with one nurse covering two homes during the day and evening, and up to three homes overnight. Other clinical support team members will visit the houses regularly throughout the day and more often, as needed, to assist individual residents.
